How to stop Musk from destroying our country
Two classic movies show how to defeat the DOGE bull(shit)
Elon Musk is trying to overwhelm and take over the institutions that keep Americans safe. The way to stop the assault — and defeat his deranged objectives — is to stand up to him.
I’ve been streaming a lot of old movies lately, partly because it’s the deepest part of winter, and partly because I have little interest in watching the horror show that passes for news right now. Most are the cozy rom-com variety. But two films from the 60s and 70s caught my interest this weekend.
Zulu, a 1964 film starring Michael Caine and Stanley Baker, depicts the successful defense of a tiny mission station at the Natal border against an onslaught of Zulu warriors. A small contingent of 150 British soldiers faced 4,000 Impi, who were part of the army that had just wiped out a much larger British column several miles away, at Isandlwana.
Zulu Dawn, a 1979 film starring Peter O’Toole, Burt Lancaster, Denholm Elliot, and a slew of British actors who have since become familiar faces, chronicles the events leading up to that shocking rout of the British 1879 — and forcing the small company at Rorke’s Drift to take up the defense.
